Stopped playing and logged off. Next day logged in to see HC character in default league.

I decided to stop playing around 2:50PM Pacific Sdt Time. I logged on at 4:30AM and noticed my character has been transferred the default realm.

I just want to see if this has happen to any body else before?

I'm likely to get a response saying my character somehow died. I'm certain that I was safe, full health, and not in combat when logging out.

How did you log off ? Did you went back to town before logging off or just do it in a zone ?

Did you created your character in any of the weekend or race league ?

Did you stash remains or gone (and replaced with the default league stash ?)

I logged off by pressing my "Esc" key, and clicking the "Exit to Log-in Screen".
The game client was showing the login screen before I left my desk.

I cannot recall my exact location when I logged out. I am certain; however, that I was idle for about 30 seconds before logging out. The reason why I can be certain of this is because I had a brief phone conversation prior to logging off. During this conversation I was not actively playing, just idling - staring at the screen/ my character.

I started this Character in the HC 2 Week League on July 31st or Aug 1st.

My Stash is empty but I believe it is also my Default League Stash. (I have not played in the default league yet or used the stash before.)

Also, maybe this information is helpful: I have another character in the same league (2 Week HC started on the same day or day after) that is still in that league and can still access my HC stash.


Below are personal opinions about the matter and may not include any factual substance that may help us troubleshoot the problem.

All symptoms really point to my character dying after logging out. Perhaps the time it takes to actually really log a character out is long enough for a mob to find and slay me.

If that is the case, perhaps a log out timer should be implemented when logging out not in town. We do not want to accidentally deceive players by showing them the Log-In Screen but your character is actually still in game, possibly dying. When I clicked "Exit to Log In" screen, and was sent immediately to the "Log in Screen", it gave a sense of security that I was logged out, alive, and safe.

Can you give an approximate date, time with zone, and character name?

I have heard of this several times. One thing I think we could do to help remedy the issue is add a count down to the log out, with a cancel option in case of an incoming mob.

For example, if the total log out and data save process takes 15 seconds, once you click to exit PoE, the time starts. Below the timer would be the option to cancel.

During this countdown, you would be able to see if any active mobs are coming your way, cancel, kill, and attempt to exit once more.

Perhaps I will post this in the suggestion forum when I return from my grocery run, if it hasn't been posted before.
